Friday 12 April - Association of Highland Clans and Societies - Culloden Anniversary Weekend Lecture 8.00pm: Glen Mhor Hotel, Inverness:Tartan expert Peter MacDonald [www.scottishtartans.co.uk] will talk about recent discoveries in the history of tartan. Refreshments - Tea/Coffee and Tray Bakes - will be served from 7.30pm. Cost for talk & refreshments (members and non-members): £5 per person on the door.
Saturday 13 April - Commemoration of the Battle of Culloden. 10.30 am March from Culloden Visitor Centre to the Main Cairn. 11.00 am Ceremony at the Main Cairn. Followed by Clan Donald group following the piper to the Clan Donald Stones with laying of wreaths. Thereafter the Clan Donald Culloden Lunch at the Drumossie Hotel - individually seated, booking essential! Special Guest Speaker is Maestro Paul Macdonald, a fine swortd-maker, fencing master and traditional storyteller. Friday 5 July - Conference on the 16th century in the Highlands run by Dr James Scott Petre for the Society of Highland & Islands Historical Research at the University of the Highlands and Islands main campus in Inverness. Full details can be found here.

Saturday 2 March - Annual Academic Lecture given by Eddie Stewart, Glasgow University archaeologist, accompanied by Lucy Ankers, on the further findings at MacIain’s summer house.
Tuesday 13 February - Massacre of Glencoe remembrance, 11.00 Service in St Mary’s Episcopal Church, 12 noon March leaves Bridge of Coe for the memorial for a commemoration and wreath laying. Followed by lunch at the Glencoe Inn. A full report will appear in the Autumn 2024 issue of A'Bhirlinn.
